Please Sign The Petition To Stop Open Cast Mining in Borneo Rainforest
As part of the effort to protect the habitat of countless species including the Orang Utangs in Borneo, please sign the petition which asks The Prime Minister to take action to stop BHP Billiton and other companies mining for coal in the heart of Borneo.
We want the UK Prime Minister to petiton the Indonesian Government to maintain the protected status of the Interior of Borneo and its rain forests and to resist the efforts of BHP Billiton to gain permission to open cast mine for coal. The Prime Minister is requsted to encourage BHP Billiton and other companies not to start open cast mining in this area.
We are all too willing to tell other countries not to do stuff that destroys valuable habitats, but how can we expect them to pay attention when we do not object to UK and Australian companies destroying virgin rainforests in Borneo? This Open cast mining operation will further reduce the habitat of the threatened Orang Utangs too!!!
